| Western Digital, manufacturer of a large proportion of the world's hard disk drives, approached me to produce a microsite to promote the steps they are taking to help the environment and make their products eco-friendly. In line with this goal they launched their GreenPower product range. Working closely with WD's UK Marketing Manager, I designed a website intended to be clean, crisp and educational that showcases the products within the GreenPower range as well as helpful energy saving advice to consumers. I also constructed the web-accessible XHTML and CSS code that powers the site. In addition, I was asked to produce supporting promotional material for the website, which included an animated banner ad campaign, print advertisement and email campaign designs. |

| Metro International publishes the largest global newspaper in the world. Through a network in 23 countries, the company delivers more than 23 million readers every weekday. In 2008 I was asked by Metro International to work on a number of projects to assist the launch of the new Metro France website. The first brief was to design the Skinkers News Alerts application which users can download to receive desktop news alerts, customised to their own requirements. Having previously designed the Skinker Alerts for Sky News and Sky Showbiz I was able to call on this knowledge to produce a range of conceptual designs that I knew would work within the technical capabilities of Skinker apps. Once a design route was chosen I created the skins and implemented them in Flash with each variation of the Skinkers application. For Metro I also designed and animated Flash-based presentation slides for a major presentation given by the Managing Director of Metro Interactive to a number of high profile guests including directors of Metro International and members of the French Parliment. I also designed and animated a range of dynamic Flash and animated graphic banner ads to support the launch campaign of the Metro France site in March 2008. |

| To coincide with the major re-launch of the channel in 2005, the increasingly popular Sky News website was also overhauled. I lead the creative direction and front-end build of the 2005 redesign of the Sky News site which included client liaison to capture requirements, present concept and design development work to achieve design sign off. To ensure a synchronized delivery of the new brand on-air and online I worked very closely with the brand design team as they developed and evolved the new Sky News identity. This required a lot of flexibility in my approach to the site design and build. Once the design and layout achieved sign-off I produced the front-end code for the site developing it in XHTML and CSS to Web Accessibility Guidelines Level 2. My role also included working closely with the back-end development team overseeing the technical integration of the design and front-end with the back-end content management system. After launch the site received an increase in traffic and user flow between pages and prompted many complimentary reviews. This included a 4 out of 5 star rating from WebUser Magazine, the UK's best-selling internet publication, who also commented that the site was "simple to navigate" and "just the way a news site should be, we reckon." |
