Integrated branding and communications agency in the heart of Clerkenwell, London seeks an integrated web development expert. You are excited about current web technologies and like to bring your savvy customers up-to-date results. You can hand-code it up with the best of 'em yet haven't forgotten how to speak English with designers, project managers or clients. You enjoy a collaborative, friendly and busy environment, and are open to learn and educate colleagues in equal measure. You will benefit from regular reviews and a profit-sharing scheme.
You have a solid understanding of and self-sufficiency in the LAMP environment, PHP (preferably OOP) and related technologies including XHTML, CSS, MySQL, XML, JavaScript DOM and DHTML. Must have the ability to pick things up quickly, from both personal guidance and books/websites.
You know all about LAMP development and have experience developing standards-compliant websites using open-source software and efficient code. Your development environment is a text editor, not Dreamweaver, and your approach to website creation follows web standards, not IE6 with ActiveX.
You can apply a systematic, disciplined, quantifiable approach to the planning, development, operation and maintenance of accessible, intelligent, user-centred and efficient websites.
Payment negotiable, based on experience.
SKILLS:
ESSENTIAL:
* Redhat RHEL4+, Apache v1. 3 and if possible, v2, MySQL v4 and if poss,
* v5 PHP v 4 and 5 (possibly OOP)
* Sendmail, SSL certification, BASH, CRON
* HTML, XHTML, CSS2, XML, JavaScript (ECMAScript)
* Experience with Subversion or other versioning system.
* Open-source and non-proprietary code and code structures
* Designing to Web Standards and accessibility compliance WCAG
* Familiar and capable with common design software like Photoshop, Fireworks, Image Ready and efficient graphic creation for web
HELPFUL
* DOM scripting, AJAX
* Familiar with user-centred design, IA and interface design, usability, and intelligent design
* Understand and be able to use the Entity-Relationship model
* Understanding the entire process from consultation, scope and strategy through to information architecture, wireframes and interaction design and implementing final designs through the site.
* Familiar with web marketing and advertising, SEO, AdWords and Analytics, Site planning
* Some understanding of Flash tools like sIFR helpful.
