Holiday Velvet is an accommodation rental portal covering vacation destinations around the world. We are currently looking for a skilled developer to assist in moving the company into the next phase of growth. This is an exciting and interesting career opportunity for the right person to work with cutting edge technology in a fun & exciting company. As lead developer, you will be working closely with the company directors to implement ongoing strategy and marketing initiatives.
Job Spec:
Experienced PHP5 / MySQL developer with knowledge of Linux required to develop and maintain a large holiday portal in tandem with the current developer.
Essential Skills:
• PHP5 & sound understanding of OOP programming
• Excellent understanding and experience using MySQL as a relational database
• Experience maintaining and optimising a Linux server running Apache (and able to set up a local mirror of the site on a personal PC for development)
• Excellent working knowledge and solid experience in framework-based programming and MVC architecture
• Good command of CSS (should be able to create tableless pages, use CSS with Javascript for error checking etc.) and Javascript.
Preferable:
• Working knowledge of Mojavi 3 or one of its derivatives (e.g. Agavi, Symfony)
• Understanding of apache mod_rewrite and ability to create dynamic, SEO-friendly URLs in combination with this
• Experience using AJAX, prototype and XML
• Experience in database optimisation
• Experience using Smarty or other templating systems
• SEO experience
Location: This job can be either achieved working remotely or to relocate to Barcelona, Spain.
Job type; F/T freelance contract with view to permanent
Salary: up to £30,000 p.a + bonus
