Java Applet - Graphic Annotation Tool

posted on 25/9/2004

We are looking for help to develop a browser based graphic annotation tool. We are in a position to proceed the project immediately once we have reached an agreement on requirements and payment terms.

Some high level requirements are described below. However, a detailed requirement specification document will need to be signed off when the project starts.

This tool must be delivered as a light-weight Java Applet and use SVG for storing annotation data.

For a giving image, user must be able to perform the following actions on a web browser through a Java Applet.

1. add annotations such as different shapes, lines, text and freehand point sequence on the image.
2. modify or delete existing annotations.
3. change annotation styles such as color, font style, transparency or filled color of shapes.
4. zoom in and out the annotated image.
5. perform multiple level Undo and Redo.

All annotations must be stored in a database as SVG XML markup data. The original image must not be modified and it must be stored separately.

The user must be able to render the annotated image to other common image formats such as PNG, JPEG, GIF and TIFF.

Changes to the annotations should be time-stamped so a history of changes to a particular image can be tracked.

User friendly interface is required.
