Blog seeks new platform with ad serving, email tools
posted on 15/12/2004BrandSuicide, an online advertising blog, is planning for 2005 and wants to move platform.
We need to find a London-based developer or agency to work with us in designing and building a blog platform that will support advertising, user registration and email newsletters/alerts.
You will ideally be adept at design AND development, but we'll consider working with you if you have skills in the following areas (or if you are a white-hot designer - this is a very cool project that would sit nicely in any portfolio).
Here's an overview of what we need:
1. CMS - blog publishing system. We're very interested in dynamic content, so skills in that area would be very encouraging.
2. Ad serving - we will start accepting IAB formats as we've ad sales representation by a US agency eager to place ads on BS. We want to be able to serve ads in line with keywords / in context with surrounding content.
3. User registration / log in / user profile admin. Ability for editors to segment users for email marketing initiatives.
4. Automated newsletters (featuring IAB-format ads) and alerts. We'd rather not create a newsletter everyday, but use a template that would aggregate the day's news stories.
5. Mutliple-level admin - editor, writer, user etc.
6. RSS feeds.
7. Metadata for content.
8. URL flattening so that headlines appear in the address.
9. User database - must log browse, click & interaction history as well as inbuilt web stats (search referrals, page views, search terms). We want to segment users and ultimately work towards personalisation.
10. Footer.
11. Search tools.
12. User interface - links, navigation, content display.
13. Uber-cool look and feel - we like clean, modern, white-background blogs, sans-serif fonts etc.
14. Accessible and usable. We hope you subscribe to Alertbox.
15. Our development partner must be able to migrate the existing blog from the 20six platform, ideally preserving search links in the process. Please provide guidance on this in your quote.
16. Affiliate marketing - Amazon for books etc.
If you apply for this you MUST quote, even if it is a range, based on the above. We also want a firm indication of how long it would take you to complete this, and payment terms.
We really want to work with a London-based developer or agency, as it would be easier to implement. We will entertain applications from the UK.
The prospects for BrandSuicide are very good (we have some firm interest from B2B advertisers), and more projects on a similar blog/publishing theme are in the offing.
