posted on 29/12/2004We’re looking to establish a good long term working relationship with VB6 /XML/ADODB Developers
You will be expected to work from your own premises with your own software. You will have to attend 3 or 4 meeting per year
Regular updates can be achieved on MSN messenger, MAIL
Be able to read and understand UML or workflow diagram
Stick to our coding standards (to be provided)
As we are based in London with an office in Warsaw,
Developers particularly in London or surrounds or Warsaw, Karcow (Poland), should apply
Application specification
The application will be distributable and be given to our clients for free, any used dlls and controls will needed to be included in the setup EXE(Built by us)
A shell of the application has already been built (basic forms and controls added to show how it will look and work) and what is required is to write the code to make it all work, a UML workflow diagram will be supplied to the successful applicants
Finally, I am aware of the many ways to do this but have chosen this method as it best meets all of our requirements
The application will be split into 2 parts and will be required to do the following:
Server
the server application will be required to connect to any ODBC compliant database
(access, mysql, SQL etc etc)via DSN
The user will be able to select whatever table or (execute a view or saved SQL Command)
The resulting recordset will return 5-6 fields of data such as ID,Name, Description etc
The recordset will then be saved in a well formed xml file
The file can then be FTP’d (app Not required to do so) to a webserver to allow for the client to access the online XML File
It is assumed that the users, operating this application will have at least a fundamental knowledge of databases or will be the webmaster
Client
The client will be setup on the client users machine
The user will be able to connect to the online XML file and update another database via a fixed table structure (Called tblXProducts or whatever) again via any ODBC compatible DSN
Version 1 of the Client app will truncate the Xproducts table and insert all new items into the table again via ODBC, version 2 of the application will be discussed later
I can provide you work on other applications should our relationship be successful

Please note: I am a developer myself and this application is to be given for free to certain customers so we do not have a very large budget for this
I am aware of the time frame it would take me to complete this application but am getting too busy with other commitments to complete the workload
