Java Compression Toolkit

Growing software house requires Java developer to work with us to produce a Java toolkit for modern compression capabilities. Toolkit should have working test harness for testing and will not use any third party toolkits with the exception of the standed JDK libraries.
Capabilities must include similar functionality to IP*Works! Zip product including; Gzip (compliant to RFC 1952 and compatible with the UNIX gzip and gunzip utilities), Tar (can be used to create or decompress .tar.gz archives), Jar, Zip (Implements a PKZip-compatible Zip compressor and decompressor), ZipStream (Easy-to-use component performs file compression and decompression on streams).
Toolkit must be cross platform and successful candidate will be given opportunity of more work along similar lines.
