ASP/XML B2B E-commerce Application

posted on 20/3/2007

I need some ASP programming for an online store. There will be no payment gateway or product/order database required since the store is for B2B on-account transactions and will link into a back-end accounting system.

There will likely be a need for a login database.

The link between the web site and the back-end accounting system is being built by a third party. The transactions between the two will be XML formatted packets requested and received in real-time via a (DMZ protected) second web server.

Product data, including stock levels, individual customer pricing, part numbers and so on is already stored on the internal accounts system. When requests for this information are made on the web site, the web application will request it from the internal system. The internal system will respond with the requested data in XML format.

Customer data, including account number, discount level, order history, open orders, credit limit and so on is already stored on the internal system. When a customer logs in to use the system they will be able to fill a basket as normal and then place an order. The order will need to be submitted as an appropriately formatted XML message to the internal system and a confirmation sent to the customer.

Orders will sit on the internal system in quarantine until accepted manually by the client's personnel. At the point of confirmation/rejection a message will need to be sent to the customer.

In addition, it should be possible for customers to query their order history and amend/cancel open (but not yet confirmed) orders.

Customers will find products on the system in either of two ways. The first is via a product wizard. This will guide them to an appropriate sub-set of products according to criteria they specify. The second is via a catalogue which may be browsed. By using fields stored within product records it should be possible to generate these catalogue pages either on the fly, or perhaps cache them on a daily basis.

I have a second almost identical project on the cards using the same back-end accounts package in a B2B environment, so will likely need help with this also.

I am looking for a fixed cost to develop the solution outlined. I can supply more detail if you feel you are able to complete the work to spec and within a reasonable timescale.

Thanks for looking.
