| I am a commercial artist with around 15 years of experience, 7 years of which was spent working full-time in the computer games industry. Prior to that I worked in a design studio, and going back further still I was taking on paid art commissions as young as the age of 14.
I have a number of high-profile published game titles under my belt, including work on the Theme Park series (where I produced concept art as well as building, texturing and animating 3D models). Probably my biggest achievement so far is as the main concept artist/character designer for Microsoft's X-Box game Sudeki.
Since the very humble beginnings of the project, I produced literally hundreds of drawings and CG art pieces through the years of its development, as well as adding my own finishing touches to various pieces of Sudeki marketing art.
Aside from the games industry, I've taken on numerous art commissions over the years and my work has found a variety of outlets, including:
Merchandising, marketing and website art for Japanese rock musicians JO:YA and Duel Jewel
CD covers and T-shirt designs for Anime Radio
CD cover art for "Anime Toonz Vol. 2" CD released by Jellybean Recordings of New York
Art showcased in New York at "Gamers' Nite Groove" event
Various art pieces for anime convention books and promotions
Pantomime poster art
On-the-spot caricatures
Various character design related projects, i.e. promotional characters and mascots
Vehicle concept design
Sci-fi and high fantasy artwork
Working in an art studio producing designs for animatronic displays and theming projects
Anthropomorphic/"furry" art and other cartoon styles
Photo re-touching/manipulation
Personal online manga comic project
Small press manga comic work
Illustrative art for print in magazines
Pixel art: Animated .gif files, window-sitter mascots and 2D game sprites (Palm PC, Game Boy Advance etc.)
Model-making and doll customisation
Print designs for a major guitar strap manufacturer
Fashion designs for print on clothing and accessories
Greetings card designs and other 'cute' art.
Although cartoon and anime-style art is a particularly strong element in my portfolio, it's certainly not all that I am capable of. I'm confident that I am a flexible artist able to work in a wide range of styles and media.
Currently I am freelancing. Recent jobs include producing artwork for an interactive language education package for use in schools, and working as an art director for 2D handheld console games. |
