Job: PHP/MySQL developer, Reading, Berkshire - £30,000 to £40,000
Permanent position for PHP/MySQL developer - working on a number of different established websites and new projects including HousePrices.co.uk, FreeDating.co.uk, Freelancers.net, BeautyFlash.co.uk and others.
We are building a development team in Reading and are looking for our first hire. You will be working in an established office just outside Reading Town Centre. You will be reporting directly to the company directors, who both have a technical background. You must be comfortable working on your own with minimal supervision as you will currently be the only technical resource based in our offices.
In addition to your own development responsibilities, you will also be responsible for delegating work to, and directing, offsite developers and freelancers based in UK, Russia and India.
You must have:
- PHP.
- MySQL.
- Linux/Unix - Basic use. Familiar with PHP command line scripting.
- Intermediate HTML - e.g. laying out content and forms within an existing template.
- Comfortable working on other people's code/databases.
- Ability to delegate to, and direct, other developers, including freelancers and outsourcers.
The following would be useful:
- Apache configuration and performance tuning.
- MySQL configuration and performance tuning.
- Some Linux/Unix Sys Admin skills would be a bonus, e.g. installing/upgrading software, managing backups, managing communication from/to the hosting company.
- Advanced HTML - e.g. cutting up design into HTML, CSS.
- Some Java and/or Perl would be useful.
- Understanding of email deliverability issues.
