your PC is turned on. If you lose the power, for example, and have to

Be careful of BT ASDL there are quite a lot of 'features' with it.
For example NO FTP at all!!!!
Which is not very useful for a web developer!!!

With ADSL the client PC has to re negotiate an IP every 12 hours therefore
it won't keep the same IP address even though it stays connected. Without a
static IP you can't host a web server....

It depends where you live. I have had a cable modem for nearly a year
now (averaging about 400kbps) and I am near Guildford in Surrey. The
NTL website has the latest on deployment geography....

ADSL is gradually being introduced this year - but the whole country will
not be covered until the end of 2001.....and if you're out in the sticks
like me - you may never get it! You have to be 3Km...
