RE: FN-PRO Web Site CheckMart' Woollatt

date posted 2nd June 2000 14:42

Cheers for that Mart.

Well, it is "supposed" to be MY home site & has my hobbies and interests on,
so they are related topics in their own right. At least you took the time
to check out more than 2 pages in the site as well. Reading the first page
tells you what the site is about...

The nav bar is basically a floating div (that doesn't work in Navigator, but
what the hell, I'll write my OWN pages for whatever I choose, but business
ones work across the board! ;-) ) which will always position itself at
wherever you tell it to, so it could actually be at the bottom of the screen
or even in the middle. The drop-downs are just hidden divs that appear
onMouseOver and disappear onMouseOut.

I am going to be putting a check box on the nav-bar so that the div doesn't
have to float as that seems to be the general gripe about my site.

I know that emphasising the first word knocks out the vertical alignment of
the first line, also, having the Danish text changing to English using
innerText, onMouseOver also can knock the alignment out, depending on the
screen res etc. I guess that I could just change the colour of the first
word, as I like to have some kind of difference for the first word. Can't
think of anything for the Danish though, but I'm happy enough with that &
not changing it! ;-)

On a different note. I am looking for someone with a little Access or SQL
knowledge for a project that I am putting together with a published author.
The catch with this is that it is a sort of personal project with the
author, and therefore is a non-paying project. The database side shouldn't
be that hard to do, I am slowly plodding along with Access trying to do it
myself, but could really have a helping hand along the way. This project is
going to be HUGE, but once the database is written that would be the end of
it for whoever. Obviously, your name would be mentioned in the credits/meta
tags...

Any queries on this please mail me at [EMAIL REMOVED]

Look forward to hearing from you.

I understand where you're coming from on this, even if I
can't put it down
in words quickly :o) How do exactly do you get that nav bar
at the top to
do that ? I only had a quick peep at the source and couldn't
find exactly
how this was achieved, but I like the effect.

My only observation would be with the text on the homepage,
or rather the
first word of each paragraph. Emphasising it so, has made
the alignment of
the top line awry with the remaining lines. I.E. a bigger
line space.
