Why use a database?
In most cases I've seen a well written program could have done the job
better
You have to remember that a database does add an overhead to the time factor
and unless you have a specific multi key extraction requirement it may not
be worth using
Databases also add other overheads such as administration (try Oracle!)
which you may not need
Finally there is the cost element, which in the case of for example Oracle
can be very high
As to Access if you sold another sql product wouldn't you make sure your
lower product wasn't very good at handling anything other than small number
of users/volumes?
