IMPORTANT INFO - Sorting out this forum
date posted 29th August 2000 13:01
Hi guys,
Many of you have pointed out various shortfallings in this forum, and this
is your chance to help sort out the problems, as well as shape the way the
forum develops.
The problems include:
* HTML gets through
* Attachments get through
* The digest is unfathomable
* There is no archive
* Multiple email accounts
I have developed new forum software from scratch that will give us complete
control over all of the above. Ultimately, I'm planning to use this software
to power this forum, but first I want to check that the essentials work,
i.e. subscribing, unsubscribing, and posting. Archiving is also active in
this release.
I'm rolling the software out on a different site first, as a new forum with
low traffic expectations.
This is where you guys come in!
I'd appreciate it if as many of you as possible could sign up to this new
forum and have a play around, firstly to check it all works OK, and secondly
to ensure that we as a group think it is the right direction to move this
forum in.
The new forum is called ShopGossip and is running on an online shopping
directory:
http://www.ukshopsearch.com
It's completely empty at the moment both in terms of members and messages,
and the topic is online shopping e.g. best places to buy PCs, CDs, Internet
Access, good service, bad service etc etc. At this stage though, feel free
to talk about anything you like! Also, try unsubscribing as well as
subscribing.
The ShopGossip address is:
[EMAIL REMOVED]
To post, just send your messages to that (this) address:
[EMAIL REMOVED]
To subscribe include just the word SUBSCRIBE in the subject line:
[EMAIL REMOVED]
To unsubscribe include just the word REMOVE in the subject line:
[EMAIL REMOVED]
Messages are archived here:
http://www.ukshopsearch.com/gossip/
I'd appreciate it if you would post feedback about the forum software to the
ShopGossip forum itself where I'll pick it up, and others will have the
opportunity to comment on it to.
Cheers
Dan
