OK Damian this is not meant to put you down in any way (more the
agencies) but all agencies do is push CV's they don't normally spend
much time matching skills to jobs they see SQL server on a CV and they
send to all SQL jobs. Agencies don't normally see the difference
between MS SQL and Oracle etc.

What you have at the moment are basic grasps of web technologies. The
agencies will have hundreds on there books with these skills and play a
numbers game if a company is misguided enough to ask for frontpage
skills from a couple of the larger agencies they will be bombarded with
hundreds of useless CVs and won't even read them.

I am sure that there are some really good agencies and some of the
agencies with my CV do a good job in pushing it forward but I have got
niche skills and maybe thats why I seem to get better value out of them.

If you really want to move forward I suggest again that you develop
your skills in other areas. There are some really good designers out
there and if you keep pitching in that area you will be up against guys
and gals that could design an add campain for champaine using a fag
packet and a felt tip and make it look good. These are the ppl
making the money that you want to earn and they will make it very
difficult for you to earn it. Move over into a programming or managment
and pitch yourself as a solution provider instead of a designer.

If you really do want advice on the agencies send your CV to hundreds
of them ;-) you will find a few that are willing to work to help you.
Don't forget they take a percentage of what you go for so make sure you
day rate is good and they will pitch you all the harder. If agencies
play the numbers game so should you ;-)
