problem with hidden regions in asp/vbscript

I'm developing a cv builder in ultradev using asp with vbscript. On the final page I have a text entry e.g name: and then a recordset next to it that pulls the name entered earlier out of an access database. I know that I can make the recordset a hidden region so that if no name was entered into the database the recordset wouldn't be displayed, howevever how can I make it so the text entry isn't displayed either. Any help would be much appreciated.
