RE: FN-FORUM Ecommerce
date posted 16th January 2001 16:32
I've used both Actinic 4 and Shop assistant DB with Stock control.
Both packages are good at what they do and I found them easy to work with.
If you need a good 'live' online database, for a reasonable price then use
Shop Assistant DB.
Actinic on the other hand can't maintain it's stock live.
I built a site for someone who only held single items and as soon as they
were sold they had to be removed from the site. This could only be done with
SASS-DB.
But each job requires different approaches.

I'm curious about this [EMAIL REMOVED]
Is there a URL I can find out more about it?
Cheers,
David

Hi Lindsey,
I'd strongly advise against using [EMAIL REMOVED] unless you're happy to also
draw up an ongoing contract with the client for minor changes, such as price
changes, addition of new products and the like.
Unlike some of the other off-the-shelf shopping cart programs, such as
Actinic Catalog, [EMAIL REMOVED] is very hands on, and requires reworking the
html every time you need to change something, which the client will almost
certainly not want to deal with themselves.
At least it was last time I looked.
On another note, with ecommerce projects, estimate how long you think it
will take and then double it - no, seriously!
