Re: FN-FORUM Scroll Bars / flash HOORAY!

'retail is about providing a customer want' - duh! the customer wants
CONTENT, anybody who thinks otherwise had best book a ticket for dodge city
with the rest of the cowboys. if i want to buy something i want to know
what it is, what it does, how much it costs, y'know CONTENT. anybody
shallow enough to buy on image alone richly deserves all the substandard
crap they'll end up getting.
as for the materialsm angle, well yes people want a nice car but thats not
the first principle. does the car move? is it expensive to run? how much
will the insurance be? can i place the shopping in?
how many high volume sites popular successful sites are flash based? try
'none' - go one say it like a mantra!
as far as i can see flash is championed by people who have a sneaking
suspicion that their easy days are over and they're going to have to start
justifying what they do - as i mentioned earlier companies can no longer
afford to fanny about for months while you make nice images move about, the
dotcom bubble has burst and companies have to justify why their sites cost
this much to do that much. tell you what flash bods, i'll throw down the
gauntlet - build a successful flash based, database-driven, rapid loading
ecommerce solution - preferably no useful content since it offends your
sensibilities - able to hold up to 50000 items and capable of dealing with
several thousand hits per day and i'll debase myself before your
overwhelming greatness. i wonder if ozymandius.com has gone?
perhaps it you who needs a few pointers on the topic peter?
btw, i actually love flash and flash sites and ive been using it since v2
and im probably one of the most technically adept at flash in the forum - up
to v4 anyway - and im keenly aware of its limitations.
