Do you find that your slightly higher rate cuts out the 'joker'
clients who waste time and niggle over every penny? Do you attract clients
who are aware of what a good service is and the value of paying a bit extra
for it?

Depends what you do!
I specialise in PHP & MySQL.
Going rates are between #20ph and #35ph.
I charge between #40 and #80.
Suffice to say, I don't get zillions of takers... but I'm not
starving!
