MS Excel used on a Web page
date posted 24th January 2001 15:57
Hi,
I have a client who has asked whether it's possible to use Excel 2000 on the
web.
He has 3 clients who operate in different parts of the country and would
like to use the internet to maintain a spreadsheet. It would have to
therefore have ODBC, but does anyone know of any limitations, experience or
pitfalls using Excel like this.
Would the user be able to amend the spreadsheet and save it back to the
server? And if all three users were connected at once would there be any
problems? I had thought of including a chat facility on the web page to aid
in communication between each user.
The only experience I've had in the past using Office products and ODBC is
setting up a DSN for Access for a small database online. So I wouldn't know
if using Excel in this way would work.
Any suggestions?
Regards
Steve
