Strangely enough there's another similar thread on one of the
newsgroups I'm on (it's just Director work) where they are saying if
anyone charges less than $50 an hour then they are classed as a
beginner and won't get much work. They were suggesting that a 'good'
wage would be to charge $100 per hour, which makes it (errr..) about
£60 an hour here? I'd still argue you are pricing yourselves out of
the market.
To get around this I charge by the day *shrugs* Much simpler. Values
still rear their heads but I've not had any complaints at £200 - £250
a day, which with regular work is more than enough to keep me happy,
especially since I get the odd job where I can charge much more.
This might be different because I'm very specialist, but the others
talking about ridiculous prices are more general. Strangely enough in
the same breath of these people trying to keep the charges high, I'm
getting more mails than ever from american contacts asking if I've got
any work they can have because the market is dying badly over there.
Makes you wonder...
