I bought mine through the Apple web site, however I'm not going to
recommend them. Have a word with the guys over at http://www.shaye.co.uk/
. It's a family run business over in Walthamstow.
Their prices are pretty competitive, but that's not why I'm recommending them.
At the end of last year my Powerbook suffered what is generally known in
the trade as a "catastrophic disk failiure". The original 6gig HD died on
it's arse. This was a week before i was due to go on holiday. I gave
Shaye a ring and they said they could replace the drive while I waited.
Seen as I was shelling out for a new HD, I thought I'd whack some more
memory in as well.
I popped over the next day, and the HD replacement went fine. However,
the SIMMS they had were a bit duff (well they worked, but not in my
model, they were for the next revision Powerbook). They didn't have any
in stock, but when I explained that I was going away, and I was up for
replacing them myself if it would speed things up, they said no problem.
We'll DHL them over.
2 days later, my SIMMS arrived from the Netherlands, express DHL. The day
after, Shaye rang up to check it all went ok.
That's what I call customer service. And as a bonus, they really know
their s***.
