I'm with John on this one, far too many people take our language with a pinch of salt and are extremely lazy with it. Some of which I believe is caused by how modern education is being undertaken....

I'd say the reason why they spell 'hear! hear!' as 'here here' is simply ignorance about how its spelt, and they can't be bothered to look it up in a dictionary, where they'd find it under 'hear' not...
