major mac problems (and don't tell me to get a PC!)

Hi all

I think my iMac is going through the terrible two's. First I have a dodgy
"helvetica" suitcase in my system folder which won't move, bin, delete or
anything (Error 199).

Second, I think my CD rom drive is knackered, it won't even acknowledge a Cd
is there. I just went on to Apple discussion site and everyone who bought an
iMac 333 at the same time as me has the same problem and are buying a new CD
drive for it. More expense.

Anyone got a magic wand?

And no smarmy comments from PC users please!
