I have just re-subscribed, having left the list some months ago because of
all the nonsense that was then being posted. When I was last subscribed,
you couldn't move for people asking really basic HTML questions. I know
people have to start somewhere, but it made me shudder to think that these
people were going round calling themselves freelance web designers.
Most lists have a balance over on-topic posts and those that serve little
purpose but to bring us together. One thing I have noticed since re-subbing
is that there seems to be a lot of repetition, which I haven't seen on many
other lists. Take the windoze screen capture query, for example - there
were quite a few replies all saying the same thing. Whether this is because
of a time lag before publication or because people just want to show how
clever they are, I don't know. I've also noticed that a few people seem
reluctant to either contribute answers to queries once they've found the
answer off-list, or to say thanks to the person who provided them with the
information they requested.
On the bright side though, it does seem that the list has improved since I
last subscribed.
All the best,
