Not first hand, but I hear it's pretty crap, excusing the expression :)

You have to sign up for 3 years, and the support is non-existant.

I actually discovered http://www.webhostingtalk.com a while ago, and found
it most useful, and quite interesting to read as well.

http://www.donhost.co.uk seem to be a growing host based in the UK. I would
also be interested to hear of 'larger' UK based hosts as well...
