you mean there are other server operating systems than NT? you one of them
crazy folks who thinks the worlds flat or something boy? ;)
in the original question, the offending remote file had the .asp suffix,
which generally means its going to be on NT - there are things like
chillisoft for *nix servers i know, but generally its NT.
and if you *could* use ssi to include a remote file, the remote file would
be parsed on that server and if was *nix sans chilisoft, or even if the *nix
server had chilisoft and the .asp file used a component without a
corresponding one in chilisoft it would all go tits up... hence i made a
not-very-large assumption! :)
