Dont go to uni
date posted 12th July 2001 00:33
Hi, it's me again ,and no i don't have anything to sell!
Iis it just me or do many people here share the same thought that going to
uni to study computing is a little useless. Unless its programming or
electronics stuff which don't change as much, studing things like webdesign
and networking at uni seems to be a waste of time. I mean by the time you
get out the technology is old, and while you are in there you are taught by
one source , the book, rather than learn by your self throught the net,
learning hundreds of techniques and stealing code.
There are some great new media schools in sweden(where i'm from ) namely
hyperisland.com (or .se, can't remember and too lazy too check) that are
really good at teaching web design, BUT after going through a class's final
projects i noticed quite obviuolsy that they were all tought the same thing
by the same person and had the same design flaws.
Learning to design a website and learning dreamweaver are 2 totaly
differnet things, so one should really research the course before going.
just my thoughts on the issue
