RE: FN-FORUM OT - ADSL Connection from IFB

Darren,
The main cause of incorrectly filed accounts is actually when a company
trusts an accountancy firm to do this for them and the accountancy firm
is late filing them.
Same as IR35 stuff.

Speaking from experience.....
A company that I was involved with always filed correctly audited
accounts as required before the required dates and surprisingly their
database always said not filed....

Sorry to burst you bubble matey, :o)
But, speaking as the person who designed and co-coded the Companies
House Direct system, I can tell you this...
1. Accounts are submitted to Companies House, Cardiff.
2. The accounts are then checked as received at a terminal. This
terminal adds this data to the mainframe.
3. The Companies House Direct system [through a chain of Suns and
AS400s] retrieves this data directly from the mainframe.
These guys have not filed there accounts, for two years. That's not
late, that's avoiding people, i.e. the public, creditors, etc. from
finding how much your company is worth. Full stop as they say...

That info looks like it comes from the companies house database,
unfortunately their records are not that upto date with regards to the
accounts filing....they probably have/did file their accounts.
Sorry to spoil your gloat.

Naughty people haven't submitted their annual accounts for two years.
Not good, as this is the only way that you can check if they are pulling
a fast one or not.
I would suggest that you either go with a major player [demon, etc.], or
straight to BT. This way you know you're getting a good deal. There can
not be that much variation in pricing as the ISP's margins are pathetic
so they're subsidised by marketing budgets, etc.
Damian.

hey all,
recently got a call from a company called internet for business ltd
(aparently not related to internet solutions for business or internet 4
business) offering an adsl connection.
anyone had any good/bad experiences with them?
they offer two packages that interest me:
small business - connection via usb @ 256Kbits/512Kbits
pro business - connection via ethernet port & router @ 256Kbits/512Kbits
obviously the routed solution would provide easy connection for multiple
pcs which i require but its a bit out of my price league. it is
possible and if so how easy is it for the connection to be shared
accross a windows 2000 network. currently the network shares a modem
dial up account which was very simple to set up and im guessing a
similar thing could be done with an adsl usb connection. can anyone
help me out here??
cheers in advance,
chris...
