RE: FN-FORUM OT - ADSL Connection from IFB
date posted 7th August 2001 22:22
My mate just had to pay out over £10k in taxes cause his accountants
screwed up his accounts [IR35 stuff]. They told him that his computer
and his software were not legitimate expenses, neither was his rent when
he was having to stay in Germany as part of his contract.
My Dad usually classes my computer kit and software as consumables [100%
tax deductable] rather than assets, so this saves me one hell of a lot
of misery.
If anyone needs advice on IR35 stuff, I know a damn good accountant who
has been dealing with internet companies [designers, ISPs, hosting
companies, etc.] since '93 and has learnt a lot about how to avoid IR35
status.
Damian.

That's just about to happen to me. I don't do small company accounts but
full ones so I really need an accountant to do it, and this they just
haven't got their fingers out. *sigh* Kathy
