Thanks Carl,
But my quest has been answered!
It was merely a case of specifying the *type* to *password* as opposed to
*text*
All is sorted now!

not sure what you mean with this one - Password fields already put the * in
place of the letters.
If you want to be able to replace the fields of a normal text field with
asterisks while still remembering the contents - let me know and I'll write
a short JavaScript file to do it.
