Cheers Matt, Andrew and Ross,
We've currently got our server co-located with Via Networks in Warrington,
but they're charging by bandwidth rather than data transfer and it's not
such great value. (In fact it's so bloody expensive it makes leased line
prices look attractive.)
We do use American servers for other high bandwidth sites though as, you're
right Matt, they are much better value than British Hosting Cos.
We really need to be able to get to our server quickly and easily though, so
we want a hosting company with premises north of Birmingham if possible.
The reason I ask about Dedicated Servers is that they charge by data
transfer, rather than throttling bandwidth and have servers hosted in
Nottingham - both of which are big plus points for us.
Any horror stories or positive experiences are much appreciated as it looks
like we'll be moving our server there next week. I'll let the forum know how
we get on.
