Windows apps and particularly office 2000 do have a tendency to hog a lot of
Ram and also many MS Apps don't seem able to free up memory on closing. I
find that I have 5mbs of available Ram out of 12...

You need to check that you have the correct monitor and graphics drivers
configured - if you're being limited to 16 colours it sounds like you only

Yes, Either you haven't installed your monitor's driver or you need to
go to the control panel -settings - then change your settings to
32/16/256 etc
