I don't have NT4, but win2k which is similar.
IIRC you need to go to Control Panel : Display
In Display go to settings tab.
On settings tab look for:
Advanced button.
Click there and look for adapter and monitor tabs.
It's likely that you have standard vga monitor selected.
If you have a SVGA monitor, select change monitor, choose a new standard
SVGA monitor close to yours (e.g. SVGA 1024x768), or if you have
drivers, choose your monitor from the list.
Around this point you will be asked/prompted for your install disk(s) or
the disks that came with your monitor, or the location you downloaded
your monitor drivers too (search the web for up to date drivers for your
monitor)
You may need to do the same with your display card. You do know what
card you have? You do have the driver disks? - NT4 drivers are not as
commonly supplied, you may need to visit the manufacturers web site to
download them.
If this helps, and it's not quite right, e-mail me off list with more
details of what you have in control panel : display.
