Don't know about VB6 but you can or use to be able to download the learning
edition of VB5 for free. Also if your a student, your wife's a student,

Borland released their c++ compiler free of charge,
so it might be worth having a look.

You might be able to find a windows version of gcc....

It was my problem and it was solved on 98SE by a) taking it back to the shop
and getting a one that worked then b) ditching Nero (which was boxed with
it) as a driver conflict wouldn't allow the mach...
