RE: FN-FORUM windows xp - probs with cd
date posted 17th December 2001 15:32
I had a simular problem with XP I found that all my Multi-session CDs would
no longer work. My CD writer is a few years old and I use something called
Packet CD to write incremental disks basically because it's a convienient
way to back-up bits and peices from time to time, this normally prompts the
user to install a driver automatically when a disk is inserted on any Win 9x
machine if there isn't one already present. Unfortunatly this doesn't work
with XP. I suppose I ought to update the software for my CD writer at some
point if an udate is available
However in the meantime I got rid of Windows XP and installed Windows 98se,
everything works fine now, personally I think XP will be good in about 5
years but for now are a few extra colours on the tool bar really worth all
the hassle? Perhaps Win 2000 or Win 98se would be better options. And since
hardware manufacturers seem to have caught up with Windows 98se it does seem
to work properly on new computers these days, like my system actually shuts
itself down and turns itself off in 5 seconds and is working very smoothly
most of the time.
