Re: FN-FORUM Panda in a restaurant TAX

Our local council says you don't pay business rates if you the work you do
for your business is "purely clerical". I think they mean doing the books
and writing letters, but since I'm mostly a tech writer, I am interpreting
that as "anything involving typing". I think you might also avoid UBR if the
room is not solely for business use. My accountant just claims the same as
he does for the local plumbers and builders who do their clerical work at
home--classed as "use of home as office" or something. The amount that goes
unchallenged or is considered OK depends on the tax office, I think, but
your accountant should know.
