RE: FN-FORUM New iMac

Look, there should be no competition, Macs and PCS were made for very different uses -
Macs were made for the creative industry and they serve very well. The iMac was made
with education in mind, to make it fun for kids rather that a boring grey box stuck in a
corner of the classroom. PCs have mostly been for office use and programming.
I've only ever used macs because everywhere I've every worked has used them - that's the
industry I'm in. If you've always used PCs then carry on, no-one is telling you to rush out
and buy an iMac.
Anyway i don't need my iMac to be called 'My Computer' to know what it is ;-)
..and its a great space saver!

I suppose I'm a bit negative about Imacs myself because When I was very
young I wanted a train set and my parents bought me a little engine, it was
really nice, but it didn't have any rails with it and I can remember
frustratedly trying to tell my parents "wailings wailings" trying to get
them to understand it wasn't like a real train, I don't think my parents
thought I could possibly be that bright, but eventually I got through to
them and I got a new train set with wailings :) I suppose I was quite spoilt
in some ways. But the trouble with Imacs they remind me of the trauma of
having something not quite a full shilling and the whole marketing strategy
seems patronising when you just know a real computer has two mouse buttons
and a floppy disk drive and you can add loads of extra bits to it. So I'm
afraid the entire imac concept is completely lost on me.
