Re: FN-FORUM Shared ADSL

Looks very nice - and only £100 more than a standard 4-port 10/100 switch
to get a router connected to the internet with basic firewall capabilities.
I currently use ICS on my W2K server to get LAN access to the internet but
it's not a great solution and the link to the W98 machine doesn't seem very
robust - although I think this is the DHCP server, not the ICS bit. In due
course I'd planned to turn the Linux machine into a firewall but...for the
extra cards I need to buy this seems great value by comparison.
If I was looking to set up a company link I'd certainly give this a lot of
thought.
Only thing I'd be slightly wary about is that I inherited a 4-port modem
adaptor which claim to be a 10/100 switch and router and modem link. Though
the modem was fine intra-LAN communication was terrible - on two 100mbps
connections it seemed to be operating at 100kbps, whatever I did to it.
Note that although it says it's platform independent it does require a
Windows machine for initial configuration - Mac/Linux users will need to
borrow a PC for a bit.
