RE: FN-FORUM BNI (ish)

date posted 15th January 2002 17:56

I remember there was a fair bit of discussion about BNI on this list
last year. After positive feedback from a few people I gave the Lord
High Supplicant of my local chapter a ring and he did a good hard sell
on the benefits of it and invited me to one of their regular breakfast
meetings. The problem was that they already had a web design 'company'
on the books and as you probably know they only allow one of each
specific business type into a chapter. The guy suggested that there may
be a work-around, however, if we were doing different kinds of web
design - he said that at the Cheltenham chapter there were no less than
three web design outfits, all happily co-existing. He said that if we
were working for different size/type clients then we could pass business
each other's way. Anyway, he gave me this web company's details and I
duly trundled off and had a look at their site. It was the biggest pile
of amateurish bollocks I've seen since that 'I kiss you' guy's site (and
hey, at least that was funny). It didn't take a huge amount of
contemplation on my part to figure that there was no way on this earth
I'd ever want to be associated with that company in any way, shape or
form and so I never did go to the breakfast meeting with one trouser-leg
hoisted up. And if the other people in that chapter were as shit at
their jobs as the web design bloke then I honestly don't think I was
missing out on anything more than a lot of grief,

Hutch
