RE: FN-FORUM FW: W2K and Advanced server

Memory - how much have you got? - I would suggest that 256Mb is a minimum
for running W2K Server. Is still pretty poor performance with 256Mb - memory
leaks soon eat your memory away.

Dave
A couple of questions for you M$ bods...
I have a few pc's (3x2K, 1x98 and 1xLinux) networked through a small switch
with Winroute pro
on the gateway machine. My main machine is 1900xp/1Gb/SCSI HDD
1. When I use the dropdown to go to a locate a directory, e.g. when saving a
file, why does it take so long for the directory tree to appear?? Sometimes
15-20 seconds??
I cannot see any activity on the switch to show its looking at the network.
Its as if a CD or HD had to spin up.
Any ideas?
2. I have a copy of W2K Advanced server and would like to get it on one of
the machines to 'play'. Anyone out there got time to put up with some
off-list Q's if I take that step again. I say again as it is sort of
installed but I got a bit lost with Active Directory/Networks and so
on...kept telling me there was not enough space when I tried to administrate
computers and users etc???
I understand if you wanna tell me to bugger off :-)
Regards
