Then you're not doing EXACTLY what people recommended. It works on every PC
I've ever tried it on from Windows 95 original retail to Windows XP Pro over
a very long time period and including some very big organizations. The
double quotes method ALWAYS works. It won't rename an existing file unless
you do save as. Then you'll have two files one ending in .txt and one not.
If you reopen the file from the docs menu, you'll get the .txt one, or it'll
open in the browser. Of course, it's always a good idea to keep file
extensions turned on all the time. If it won't work for you, just write a
simple batch file to rename *.txt to *.htm in the appropriate directory.

Change to all files, then type file name OR enclose filenames in double
quotes.
