Hi Ian,

They charged £50.24+VAT when the domain name went live, but the fee will
be reduced each month for the next six months in order to discourage
so-called speculators from buying domain names in bulk as soon as the
extension was available. But it didn't stop some companies (for example
shopping.me.uk),

What's wrong with using UK2.net? I used them a couple of weeks ago to
register a number of me.uk domain names for forthcoming developments,
and I had no problems with them.

They were one of the few companies (that I know of) to allow
registrations of .me.uk domain names when Nominet set them live at
midnight on 14th January (companies such as 123-Reg did not allow
registrations until 9:00am that day), and I will probably incur a charge
of £19+VAT for transferring the domain names to our servers, but that's
a lot better than waiting for even a couple of minutes and then finding
out that the names that I wanted to register had already been taken by
someone solely interested in holding them to sell to the highest bidder.

Although they operate only an e-mail based support system, they still
responded to my questions within 24 hours, so is it rare to experience
this level of service from them, or is it because they are successful in
registering domain names that people feel like bashing them?

Have you explained to your client that they can make pretty pictures and

the point is simple....... i would much rather spend time building real
web-based application rather then update Joe Bloggs price list.... the
point
of a content management system with WYSIWYG is that users are much more
likely to be familar with a Word-processor type UI.

that, and CMS/Ecommerce type sites are worth more than updating Joe
Bloggs
website once every few weeks, months.

Sorry - didn't make myself clear (or I'm missing the story here).

For example: Your define a space (within some tags - ie ) and tell
whatever lang you want to use to put data from a db into it.

You can do that with images, pages long of text and all that stuff.
As long as the layout holds up and classes are defined in the CSS it
should just look like you've written it all by yourself :)

To get data into the db you could just setup a script, so your clients
can dump their text files by email (for example).
