RE: FN-FORUM Bandwidth/data transfer question
date posted 1st February 2002 23:30
Mmmmm do not confuse bandwidth and data transfer.
...although most isps/hosting companies love to confuse you on em ;-)
think of a water pipe...(oh no)
Bandwidth -
The fatter (more bandwidth) the pipe is the more water can pass
at the same time.
Data transfer - how much water (data) passes
over a set period of time.
If you Flash file is 100k and is downloaded 10 times
then you have used 1000k of 'data transfer' that week.
Oh boy, that was crap eh :-(

-> Hi,
-> I am been thinking about this all evening and thought someone
-> here may have
-> the answer...
->
-> Ok - Let's say I have a Flash game that is 100kb in file size and a user
-> goes to my site and plays the game on 10 occasions over a week...
->
-> I know that the file would be downloaded into their temporary internet
-> files, if they did not clear these files over the week would the total
-> bandwidth be 100 KB or 1000 KB ?
->
-> What are your thoughts?
->
-> Thanks,
->
-> Rog.
