RE: FN-FORUM Access Connection problem + ASP?
date posted 27th April 2002 20:04
Restart IIS, there seems to be some problem with updating files and DB
connections in IIS5. It is intermittent and extremely irritating.
All the best

Subject: FN-FORUM Access Connection problem + ASP?
Just got a weird problem appear from nowhere that I hope you ASP guys can
help.
Wrote an ASP site a few months ago for a search engine and I've finally just
got the time to finish it off.
I've been working fine on it for the last hour or two - no problems...
then I opened the database to look at something (made no changes to it
whatsoever), closed it again (I understand the problems with Db Locking /
Exclusivity so always close my app before running any ASP)
Now all of a sudden I'm getting a weird problem - the site is loading fine
first time, executing the first statement on the page (a simple select all),
but then when I try accessing another page - it returns an 'UNSPECIFIED
ERROR' on me..
It does this constantly now and I can't fathom out what it could be -
Permissions are fine, the Db is fine, the ASP hasn't changed - all I did was
open the Db and then close it again.
I've double checked the ASP and made sure that I'm closing and destroying
all objects I create - and it's all fine.
Anyone have any ideas?
Rgds,
Carl.
