If they are being charged for monthly submission then they are definitely
being ripped off.
There should be no effect if you move the site, you may get a hiccup in some
search engines where the site disappears for a month or so but there should
be no lasting problems.

Hey, Ive finally convinced myself that I need to understand search engines
and have spent most of today reading up as much as I can... my primary
reason for doing this is that I have a good client who is being charged
quite a whack for "monthly search engine submission services" and I think
that I can do it cheaper and probably better - he doesnt seem to get any
outstanding results for his money and is purely looking for an improvement..

So, can I ask what would be the effect of moving his sites to my server and
starting my own search engine program?
