what type of field is 'column'? there isn't a true boolean column type in

Try using XMLSpy, it is very good for validating XML and XSLT's

You can find carriage returns with the contains() function:

With a recursive template and some substring-before() and substring-after()

When generating the XML file, HTMLencode(the contents of the node) should do
it.
