FN-FORUM Damn those UK2 people

date posted 11th September 2002 15:10

The whole thing isn't very clear... Different ISPs have different rules and
the authourising domain bodies respect that.

Our policy is to charge all the fees upfront, then have no fees or hidden
charges anywhere else, no matter how much admin is involved. We also hold
domains on our Name Servers free of charge.

Now, if you registered your domain name with UK2.NET you will have your
domain name pointing to their name servers. All active domains have some
sort of Name Servers to point to. That is why when you enter your domain
name into Internet Explorer, the UK2.NET mumbo-jumbo appears and lots of
pop-ups. This domain is hosted with these guys whether you like it or not,
they have their own obtrusive holding page. The hosting isn't beneficial to
you (other than showing the name is taken) as you have no control over what
is displayed there. Its basically UK2.NETs marketing area (and you pay for
it).

We also offer domain holding services with customisable holding pages. Our
services have no hidden charges anywhere and we don't mind if you move
elsewhere for hosting. We also provide free upgrades to our hosting services
and a free email address with any domain on our servers.

I hope this explains the matter better. If you are interested in what we
have to offer, just go to:

All the best,

Noah

This is quite an interesting topic.

Does anyone know what problems there might be transferring a
registration to the EU from the US? - i've been using an American
company for the last three years... i want to use a host in the UK or EU
for several domains/sites including our own (currently not hosted
properly)... My reg companies T&C aren't very clear to my law-ignorant
eyes...

?
