I agree, if you bought a car or any other product with simialr defects you'd
take it straight back to the shop and demand a refund, yet with software we
all accept it!

Well, most versions of the MS Office products have crashed my machines
at least once a week, can be incredibly slow even on a machine with
512mb memory and a Ghz processor. From a website design point of view
IE has been responsble for many, many evils against HTML standards, as
have earlier versions of Frontpage. I recently spent 7 hours patching
all my various browsers & operating systems, and am required to do
this about once a month otherwise my MS based operating systems could
be compromised, even with the latest patches my NT Server box displays
odd behavior, my old Win 98 machine crashes twice a day, and my
W2k laptop only shuts down cleanly 1/3rd of the time (from a clean
install).
Please don't tell me they make good products; they have fantastic
marketing strategy, and have tied a good proportion of the world into
their products and proprietary file formats, that is all.
