The problem as I see it is that they just don't seem to go away. While we
are working hard, they are sat nattering to the client and contaminating
their way of thinking. Also, the immediacy of their results makes us look
bad while we are preparing the ground work to do a good job.
It is similar to one of the first lessons I learned when I went full time in
this game. I made the mistake of building a prototype to try and work out
what the client needed. The client then took the work as finished and didn't
want anything further done. They had their flashing lights, so were content,
despite what I said (it went belly up later and I fixed it, for a price).
The crap developer produces quick results like this and gets a similar
response; the only difference is that they actually believe it IS completed
because they are too uneducated to know otherwise.
Hopefully, though, the current downturn in the industry will kill a few of
them off and give us a more professional and healthy industry in the long
run,
